Older Adult Exercise 101; 4 CEU Credits

Want to Increase Your Knowledge About Older Adult Exercise?
Take this quick independent study and hour long webinar course to gain better understanding to all things older adults and exercise. This is a beginner course for all of you who have a responsibility to teach or lead exercise and movement for older adults in any setting.

Goals of Course
It is no secret the many benefits of movement, physical activity, and structured exercise for
individuals of all ages and abilities. As we age, maintaining lower body strength, walking gait, and balance directly impacts overall mobility and thus independence. We can impact
improvement and maintenance of these areas with consistent focus and attention.
Determining the ROI on fitness programming is much like determining the ROI on renovation projects within a senior living community. You must compare the investments and benefits over time. Sometimes you must make assumptions backed by research. For example, according to theInternational Council on Active Aging National Benchmarks Report released in 2017 the following statistics were collected from organizations across the United States and Canada:
● The average length of stay for all Independent Living residents is 6.1 YEARS
● The average length of stay for Independent Living residents active in wellness
programming is 8.8 YEARS
● Residents who do not participate in wellness programming in Independent Living have an
average length of stay of 2.6 YEARS

Completion
After studying and viewing the webinar you will need to successfully complete a 10 question knowledge check test and score at least a 70% of above to receive 4 CEU credits that can be used for activity director certification continuing education credits.
